Unfinished work (based on Lord of Roseotter)

List picked up a fair sized pebble from the streambed and placed it in the tounge of his sling. He listened carefully to the forest around him, missing nothing. Distinctly he could hear the clink of armor on mail as his men hunted through the forest. List whriled his sling, launching the pebble back into the water and sat back.
"Hullo wanderer, what brings you to this side of the woods?" List asked the figure that had materlized from the trees a few feet away. It was Morgan, one of the few woodland dwellers who lived close to Tharrack. Morgan regarded List a few minuts before replying.
"Your warriors, crashing about, scared most of my mounts from the stables." she answered.
"Must have been the squires, they strayed off a few days ago in your direction. I saw Flame and his sire just this morning and I think my men caught Grydorn. I'll help the others if you'd like"
List finished talking just as three war-horses were chased into view by Morgan's big hound. They waded into the shallows, watching the dog carfully. List reconized the two paints easily as Flame and High Fire but hadn't seen the solid-black mare before. Morgan gave him two lead ropes and wadded into the stream after the horses. List looped a rope around High Fire and pulled himself onto the horse's back, tossing the other rope around Flame.
Morgan guided her own mount out of the stream then onto the path, quickly dissapering into the trees. She had stopped in a clearing when List caught up with her.
"Tharrack has sent patrols into the forest again, and it sounds as if your warriors have run into them: Morgan said as she made to untie the sword, Esil, from across he back. List didn't answer, he took off through the trees at a full gallop towards the place where his men had camped
